Thora Birch

Thora Birch was born March 11 in 1982. She is an American producer, actress, and director. Her debut film was Purple People Eater (1988) in which she was awarded the Young Artist Award for "Best Young Artistress Under Nine Years of age". Birch rose to prominence in the role of a child-star with appearances in films including All I Want for Christmas (1991), Patriot Games (1992), Hocus Pocus (1993), Monkey Trouble (1994), Now and Then (1995) as well as Alaska (1996).Her breakthrough role came in 1999 when she appeared as Jane Burnham in the highly popular film American Beauty, for which she earned an BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actress. In the following year, she played in Ghost World (2001) as Enid. She was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. In 2003, Birch received an Emmy Award nomination for her role in the title role in Homeless to Harvard The Liz Murray Story. Her other films include Dungeons & Dragons (2000), The Hole (2001), Silver City (2004), Dark Corners (2006), Winter of Frozen Dreams (2009) and Petunia (2012).After taking an absence from acting, Birch returned to her acting career in 2016 and has since starred in several independent films. Birch also played the character of Whisperer Maryor Gamma in the Walking Dead's season 10. Birch, Jack Birch's eldest son was born in Los Angeles. Birch is German-Jewishwith Scandinavian and French-Canadian ancestry. "Thora" is her name. It's derived from the Norse god Thor thunder and lightning. If she were a boy, she would have had the full name. Kian Bolt Birch is her younger brother. Both of her parents played actors in adult movies and appeared in Deep Throat. They were hesitant to promote Thora because of their experiences in the entertainment industry. But, a babysitter noticed Thora performing commercials in a similar way and encouraged them to show her picture to agents. Birch's first big break came at the age of four when her babysitter took her to auditions for an Quaker Oats commercial.
