Michelle Lynn Monaghan Bio

Michelle Lynn Monaghan (born March 23, 1976) is an American actress. Her most well-known work includes her starring roles in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), Gone Baby Gone (2007), Made of Honor (2008), Eagle Eye (2008), Trucker (2008), Source Code (2011), Pixels (2015) and Patriots Day (2016). Her role as Julia Meade, the main character in Mission: Imperfible's action spy series Mission: Impossible (2006), Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol (2011), Mission: Impossible Fallout (2018), has been recognized. Monaghan also starred in True Detective's first season (2014) in the first season of True Detective as Maggie Hart. She was nominated for the Golden Globe Award, Best Supporting Actress. In the drama The Path, a drama series The Path (2016), she played the role of Sarah Lane. Monaghan was the main character in the 2020 Netflix thriller Messiah. It was pulled after one season. Monaghan was born in the tiny town (then with a population of 750) in Winthrop, Iowa, the daughter of Sharon Hammel, and Robert Monaghan who worked as a factory worker. Monaghan has two brothers older than her, Bob and John. Monaghan is a Catholic with Irish and German descent . She has graduated from East Buchanan High School, 1994. After graduation, Monaghan relocated to Chicago to pursue journalism studies before pursuing modeling. She modeled in Milan, Singapore, Tokyo and Hong Kong, as well as in the United States. She quit New York for an acting career following her 1999 journalism degree. Modeling was her forte and was featured in various catalogs and magazines before making her acting debut. Monaghan was credited in two television roles as supporting characters in Young Americans' episodes in 2000. In "Consent" Monaghan portrayed the role of Caroline Busse. She also appeared on Law & Order: Special Victims unit during that episode. On the 19th of January 2001, she was a part of the cast in "Consent". That year, her big screen debut was with Perfume as Henrietta. In 2002, she was again playing a supporting character in Unfaithful which starred Richard Gere & Diane Lane.
