Padma Lakshmi Bio

Padma Parvati Lakshmi was born on September 1, 1970 in Chennai, India. Her parents divorced after she turned 2 years old. Her mother moved to USA to avoid the stigma of India. Lakshmi was a part of her maternal grandparents in Chennai for two years before moving with her mother to the United States. Her parents divorced, and she was blessed with a younger halfbrother and half-sister from her father. Lakshmi is a woman who shares her last name with the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity was born in New York and then in Los Angeles with her mother and stepfather. Her family visited her in India often throughout the year, and returned for several months. Padma Lakshmi discovered acting was something she was interested in during 1999. Her first movie part was in Figlio di Sandokan (an Italian pirate film). Next, she appeared in "Caraibi" which is an epic drama about 17th century pirates. In 2001, she portrayed an amusing supporting role in the American movie 'Glitter,' as a disco singer. Padma has a daughter who is married to Adam Dell (a venture capitalist). Krishna was born in February of 2010, on 20 Feb 2010. She was also wed to Teddy Forstmann who is the former CEO and chairman of IMG. Lakshmi is currently in a relationship with American venture capitalist Adam Dell, has a daughter who is named Krishna. Lakshmi later revealed the identity of her father to her child, though she kept it a secret at first. Her daughter, she stated, "Everything's better with her around."
